BBQ FUNDRAISER AT RED DOE PLANTATION
OCTOBER 20, 2007
Members of the 8th & 23rd SC Volunteer Infantry Reenactors and the Harllee Guard of Dillon, SC prepare for morning parade.
Belles Mrs. Frances (middle) and Courtney (right) Kendall---wife and daughter of camp Color Sgt. Sandy Kendall---are joined by youngsters Elizabeth & Caleb York---children of camp Lt. Commander Ron York---on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Red Doe.
Lunch was provided for by Kenny's BBQ of Hemingway, SC.  This is the Southern version of "eatin' out"!
Camp 2nd Lt. Commander Lee Galloway does a fine impression of an American soldier of the Continental Line during the Revolutionary War.  He also dressed out as a period militiaman.  That's our new "Avenue of Flags" behind Lee.

Compatriot J.R. "Pappy" Fisher.  Some folks say he's old enough to be a real Confederate soldier, but he's only a very spry 75 years young (and can still march a 20-year old recruit into the ground!).

Caleb & Elizabeth York show off their hard-earned Confederate script---don't spend it all in one place, youngins!  It's always good to see the "next generation" getting involved.

The period camp.  Defending and promoting your Southern heritage is one thing, but re-living it is quite another.  And it's fun!  (Thanks to Artie & Daniel for letting me fire off the Coehorn mortar around midnight Friday.  It was a "blast"!----Ken)

Ms. Gretchen Huggins was our tour guide for the day. The Pee Dee Rifles call her our "Guardian Angel" of Red Doe Plantation---her love and devotion to the old place is an inspiration.....
